Finding a Center
Where do I do my CPE?
Each unit is a total of 400 hours in clinical training (combined clinical and educational hours) in spiritual/pastoral care. The educational time will be a combination of didactics, online educational courses, student presentations, group discussion, and individual supervision. Didactic study and class time will make up 100 of the 400 total hours of each unit .
The remaining 300 hours will be fulfilled through clinical hours, in which students will interact with persons within a spiritual care framework. The spiritual care visits will occur at a designated clinical center, overseen by an ICPT CPE Supervisor in collaboration with an Preceptor.
The Onsite Preceptor can be any contextually relevant professional who can help students get access to a patient/client population, assist with getting background information on the patients/clients, be the student’s guide at the facility in terms of orientation, policies and procedures specific to the facility and being a support and holding the student accountable for the hours the student logs as clinical hours.
