What is CPE.org?

CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) is a form of chaplaincy internship in which students are taught through hands-on practice, clinical supervision, and academic study to more effectively observe, listen, communicate, and respond and attend to someone’s spiritual and emotional needs. CPE students gain the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to assist people in crisis with competence and confidence.

What Makes Our Program Different?

The Spiritual Care Association offers online CPE through our academic partner, the Institute for Clinical Pastoral Training (ICPT). SCA is proud to license its industry recognized, professional training content to ICPT. Through this relationship, ICPT’s students receive accredited, evidence-based scope of practice and evidence-based quality indicators, as well as standardized training that was developed and validated by an interdisciplinary panel of CPE experts.

This CPE program is unique, in that

  • It includes a standardized curriculum with objective and measurable outcomes.
  • It’s convenient. You don’t have to leave your place of employment to take CPE training.

* It includes supervised clinical pastoral training. You will garner skills required at inpatient and outpatient healthcare organizations, correctional facilities, corporations, and military installations.
